Accommodations
Accommodates up to 7 in two staterooms, varnished teak interior with some
white flat panels to keep the boat light and airy in the standard Cape Dory
40 layout. Oiled teak sole; 9 opening bronze ports and 4 large fixed port, 4
hatches and a dorade provide an abundance of natural light and ventillation.
Reading lamps at each berth and settee plus a number of overhead lamps for
artificial lighting.
Starting forward is the Forward Stateroom, featuring V-berth with
filler, below which there is a small seat for dressing, drawers and drop
face lockers as well as some bin type storage. Above the berth the hull is
lined with varnished ash hull ceilings and a full length storage shelf.
Access to the chain locker through the forward bulkhead. Aft of the stbd. V
is a bureau with drawers and a locker while aft of the port V is private
access to the head.
Next aft to port is the Head featuring a separate stall shower
compartment, manual W.C. plumbed via Y valve to the holding tank, generous
vanity with stainless steel sink with pressure H&C water and storage:
Opposite the head is a hanging locker and bureau with drawers, above and
outboard of which is a 2nd locker.
The Main Salon is next aft and features a large U shaped dining
settee to port and straight settee to starboard. The pedestal table for
dining drops down as a filler to make a large double berth. There is tankage
and some bin stowage below the settees, storage behind the seat backs and in
shelves with fiddles and lockers above the settees. The aft facing Nav.
Station is aft of the stbd. settee and includes a chart storage locker
under the table top and drawers and lockers for storage as well as shelving
outboard for navigational electronics.
The private Aft Stateroom is next aft to starboard and features a
true double quarter berth, small bureau with sink & pressure H&C water
(normally covered with a covering board, see photo), drawers under the
quarter berth, and a hanging locker. Again the hull is properly lined with
varnished ash ceilings.
Opposite the aft cabin and navigation station is the U-shaped Galley
which features excellent counter space and storage with several drawers and
lockers. The stainless sink is a deep double basin unit and plumbed with
pressure H&C water, manual fresh and manual salt water pumps. Three burner
gimbaled Propane stove with oven and broiler. Large well insulated "ice box"
equipped with Cold Machine refrigeration.
